All Special Effects In This Music Video Show Off Scientific Concepts

Nigel Stanford’s song Cymatics is named for the study of visible sound vibrations, and we see sound made visible in this music video. In fact, this video is a treasure trove of science, with ferrofluid, Chladni plates, Tesla coils, and a fiery Ruben’s tube.

Shahir Daud directed the music video for Cymatics, a track from Stanford’s album Solar Echoes (which you can download from his website).

What I really love about this is that the science came first. If you watch the BTS videos, the team describes how they worked to find which frequencies matched best with the visuals, and then Nigel created the song around those frequencies. Very, very cool work.
